(Lame) low blood sugars, unfortunately they’re a fact of life living with type 1 diabetes, but they’re also disrespectful, have awful timing, and are just plain rude. I despise them.
For the last three mornings I’ve woken up to exercise at 5am (like I have been doing for months), and I haven’t been able to because my blood sugar is too low. Not only does this infuriate me, I’m so stubborn that I refuse to eat to raise my blood sugar, so that I can exercise (because who wants to eat, in order to workout?). Yes, I fight with my own disease, and I also do things to spite it. Take that you stupid, lame low blood sugar.
P.S. I hate you.
Found this fabulous website recently, and it rocks: http://www.realtimefarms.com/. If you’re interested in knowing where your food comes from, what farms produce the food you eat, or want to find restaurants you’re comfortable eating at, then this is the place for you! In addition, (and my favorite tool), is the farmers market registry, with more markets joining the database regularly. Simply enter your location into the handy map tool, and it’s all right there for you. They also have a fabulous food blog I frequent, found here: http://blog.realtimefarms.com/
This makes me even more thrilled to share this article about the surge in farmers markets popping up everywhere! http://www.sott.net/articles/show/249259-USDA-United-States-Farmers-Markets-Surge
I’ve seen these allergen free chocolate chips at the commissary in the health food section before, but have always been suspicious that they would taste awful. I decided to buy a bag and see for myself, and I’m so glad I did! They are fantastic and taste exactly like any other chocolate chip I’ve ever bought. The only catch is that they’re free of all the junk ingredients and the eight most common allergens. I highly recommend!
They have a variety of other products (and coupons!) on their website if you have friends or family that have food allergies: https://www.enjoylifefoods.com
Went out to check on my garden this morning after working out, and I found a lot of red and almost red Juliet Grape tomatoes. I hadn’t even realized they were there, because they’re fairly hidden, but finally! I’ll have to do some picking when I get home tonight. There was one that had fallen off the vine, so I brought it in.
Just for fun, I decided to compare it to the store bought grape tomatoes I have, what a difference:
